1-    Historic studies department:

This department aims to:  

-         Deals with studying Iraqi history (over ages) especially, and the Islamic civilization in general, and mange these studies for future through researches and academic books.

-         Deals with studying the British documents –that exist in the library of the department and translate it, in addition to verifying manuscripts.

-         Hold seminars and workshops in cooperation with Iraqi universities and researches centers.

-         Deals with researches and studies that reinforce human rights and democracy in the civil society.

-         Presenting visions and studies that support political decisions.

-         Hold an annual scientific historical conference shed lights on an important historical subjects that serves the Iraqi contemporary situation.

-         Cooperation with Iraqi universities through scientific projects with various Iraqis and Arabic researches center.

The department consist of many research units: (historical studies, heritage studies and verification of scripts, documentaries studies, Archaeological sites  studies.

Also the department issued quarterly journal called "Historic  studies" and many books that deals with history.
