Under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Engineer Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, and upon a gracious invitation from the National Security Advisory, represented by Mr. Qasim Al-Araji, the Head of the Board of Trustees of Bayt al-Hikma, Professor Dr. Qahtan Nima Hassan Al-Khafaji, participated on Saturday, 7 February 2026, in the opening ceremony of the Fifth International Conference on Geospatial Technologies and Smart Cities.
The conference is organized by the National Security Advisory – National Center for Spatial Data Management, under the theme “Towards a Secure and Sustainable Future”, with wide local and international participation.
Held over three consecutive days, the conference aims to keep pace with global developments in geospatial studies in service of society, explore international expertise, and support state orientations toward establishing smart and sustainable cities. It also seeks to develop future visions that advance the reality of spatial information systems and meet the aspirations of digital transformation.
On its first day, the conference witnessed discussions of several specialized studies focusing on crisis management, smart urban planning, infrastructure development, and the improvement of public services. Researchers also reviewed the latest studies on environmentally friendly engineering construction materials and sustainable green technologies, highlighting their role in supporting smart city concepts and achieving efficient use of resources and energy.
Bayt al-Hikma’s participation underscores the institution’s commitment to supporting scientific research, enhancing academic cooperation, and keeping abreast of global developments in environmental technologies, in line with the government program and state orientations toward shaping future plans for achieving comprehensive development. |
