Bayt Al-Hikma Participates in the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the General Directorate of Cultural Affairs
Under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Eng. Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, and upon the gracious invitation of the Director General of the General Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Dr. Aref Al-Saadi, Bayt Al Hikma represented by its President of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Qahtan Naama Hassan Al-Khafaji, participated in the grand central celebration organized by the General Directorate of Cultural Affairs on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of its founding and its Golden Jubilee.
The celebration coincided with the completion of the Directorate’s reconstruction and rehabilitation campaign and was attended by high-level official figures and a distinguished gathering of cultural and literary personalities on the evening of Monday, 16 February 2026.
The event featured a number of official speeches delivered by the organizing and supporting parties, emphasizing the importance of supporting national cultural institutions and strengthening their role in preserving Iraq’s civilizational heritage, thereby reinforcing cultural identity and revitalizing the creative movement.
The celebration also included an artistic festival in tribute to the Directorate’s journey and its pioneering role in enriching the Iraqi cultural scene with scientific and literary publications, as well as its longstanding contributions to supporting intellectuals and writers over many decades.
Bayt Al-Hikma’s participation in the celebration reaffirmed its mission to continue providing scientific and cultural support to Iraqi institutions, particularly the General Directorate of Cultural Affairs. This long-established institution has, throughout its history, represented a knowledge oasis for sound and renewed thought, and a hub attracting national competencies, safeguarding civilizational achievements in line with the aspirations of the coming stage.
