Bayt al-Hikma Enhances Cooperation with Karbala Provincial Council
​The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bayt al-Hikma, Dr. Qahtan Ni'ma Hassan al-Khafaji, received in his office today, Monday, April 13, 2026, the Vice-Chairman of the Karbala Provincial Council, Mr. Mahfouz al-Tamimi, and his accompanying delegation. This visit, the first of its kind to Bayt al-Hikma, aimed to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation mechanisms with Karbala Governorate and its affiliated scientific and academic institutions.
​The Chairman welcomed the visiting delegation, providing a detailed explanation of the major scientific departments at Bayt al-Hikma, their missions, goals, and strategic plans. He highlighted the institution's prestigious status among academic institutions, universities, and research centers, owing to its historical and cultural heritage that represents the knowledge dimension of Baghdad and Mesopotamia. He also addressed the institution's current responsibilities, including providing consultations and solutions for various issues affecting Iraqi society, which are explored through seminars, conferences, and workshops organized by the scientific departments.
​Furthermore, the Chairman discussed the significant role Bayt al-Hikma plays in providing senior state management with proposals, opinions, and ideas. These contributions aim to form wise perspectives and well-studied scientific decisions that assist the state in finding appropriate solutions to political, economic, and social crises.
​For his part, Mr. Mahfouz al-Tamimi, Vice-Chairman of the Karbala Provincial Council, expressed his great admiration for the work and tasks performed by Bayt al-Hikma, considering this scientific and cultural landmark a national beacon to be proud of before the world. He invited the scientific departments to participate in the third annual conference held by Karbala Governorate, titled "The Scientific Conference of Karbala Scholars," by submitting research, studies, and scientific papers that serve the conference's themes.
​The meeting was attended by Dr. Hazem al-Rudaini, Vice-President of the Strategic Center for Human Rights in Iraq, and the Director of Public Relations and Media at Bayt al-Hikma, who accompanied the delegation on an introductory tour of the historical landmark and the archaeological building of Bayt al-Hikma, visiting its various scientific and administrative departments.
