 *Anti-Violence Against Women and Its Social and Psychological Effects* 
Within the framework of the (16 Days of Activism Violence against Women Campaign, the Department of Legal Studies, in cooperation with the Women's Affairs Department at Baytt Al-Hikma (House of Wisdom), organized a scientific symposium today, Sunday, December 7, 2025, titled "Anti-Violence Against Women and Its Social and Psychological Effects," held in Dr. Mahmoud Ali Al-Daoud Hall.
The session was chaired by  Dr. Izzeddin Al-Muhammadi, Supervisor of the Department of Legal Studies, and rapportuerd by Miss. Yasmin Abdul Razzaq Bijan, Head of the Women's Affairs Department at Bayt Al-Hikma.
The symposium highlighted the role of women in the family and society, addressed the causes of violence against them, and discussed the associated social and psychological effects of abuse, with a focus on protecting women according to the effective law in Iraq. The aim was to convey a message to society that women are the fundamental pillar of the family and the core of sound  upbringing.
The seminar included several axes presented by a group of researchers:
 Prof. Dr. Buthaina Mansour Al-Helou from the University of Baghdad presented a research paper titled "When is a Woman Abused?," in which she discussed violence against women and its social and psychological effects on women and the family. She covered the definitions of violence, its types, and associated behaviors, emphasizing the role of family counseling, media, and places of worship in educating the community, strengthening family ties, and moving away from violence.
 Engineer Yasser Karim Nasser from  Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies participated with a research paper titled "Digital Violence Against Women: An Unmonitored Space," in which he addressed the definition of electronic blackmail, its most prominent means and types, reviewing a set of tools used in extortion operations. He explained methods for preventing various forms of blackmail and the importance of protecting personal data for the public in general and women in particular.
 Prof. Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al-Qaisi from the College of Law - Al-Mustansiriya University also participated with a research paper titled "The Legal and Legislative Framework for Protecting Iraqi Women from Violence," in which she discussed the articles in the Iraqi Constitution related to women's protection, and protection within national laws, including the Penal Code, the Iraqi Personal Status Law, the Social Protection Law, and the draft law against domestic violence in Iraq.
For his part, Dr. Qahtan Ni'ma Hassan Al-Khafaji, Head of the Board of Trustees of Bayt Al-Hikma, emphasized the importance of focusing on Islamic legislation based on the Holy Quran and the noble Sunnah of the Prophet. He called for awareness regarding the role of family and educational upbringing in preparing a generation that bears self-responsibility to enhance women's role in society and respect their rights. He praised the role of the scientific departments at Bayt Al-Hikma in studying important phenomena that affect the Iraqi social structure.

At the end of the session , the Head of the Board of Trustees presented certificates of appreciation to the participating researchers in the symposium, which witnessed an interactive dialogue between the participating researchers and specialized academic professors, who enriched the seminar with their interventions and comments.
