The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Baytul-Hikma, Dr. Qahtan Neama Al-Khafaji, received in his office a delegation from the Endowment Office for Christian, Yazidi, and Mandaean Religions on Sunday, July 27, 2025. The delegation was headed by Mr. Raafat Jasib Mahawi, Director General of the Department of Mandaean Affairs, and included Father Martin Hermiz Dawood, Director of Media and Government Communication at the Endowment Office. The official visit aimed to strengthen mutual cooperation between the two institutions and to expand the horizons of scientific and cultural collaboration.
Dr. Al-Khafaji welcomed the members of the visiting delegation and emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of religious pluralism in Iraq. He highlighted the role of state institutions and research centers in fostering awareness and understanding of national identity among all religious communities. He affirmed that Baytul-Hikma is committed, through its activities, to shedding light on the cultures of Iraq’s diverse components, celebrating the beauty of the Iraqi social fabric, and promoting national unity among all groups.
The meeting included a rich dialogue that addressed various topics of mutual interest. One of the key outcomes was an agreement to hold a joint scientific symposium dedicated to the Mandaic language. He reaffirmed the continued cooperation between the Endowment Office and Baytul-Hikma in organizing scientific and cultural activities, leveraging the institution’s extensive capacities in knowledge, culture, and logistics.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary-General of Baytul-Hikma, Professor Dr. Haider Qasim Al-Tamimi; Board Member Dr. Muhannad Abdul-Hassan; and Director of Public Relations and Media, Mr. Mudhaffar Al-Rubaie.
