*Bayt Al-Hikma (House of Wisdom ) Participation in the First Conference for Scientific Journal Editorial Boards*
Under the direction of the Head of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Qahtan Ni'ma Al-Khafaji, Bayt Al-Hikma participated with a high-level delegation in the First International Scientific Conference, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the title of : "The First Conference for Scientific Journal Editorial Boards," The delegation was headed by the Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Haider Qasim Matar Al-Tamimi, as well as a group of editors in chief and managing editors of the peer-reviewed scientific journals published by the research departments of Bayt Al-Hikma, in addition to research and technical staff from the institution. The conference was held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the University of Technology in Baghdad.
The conference aimed to enhance the academic publishing environment and to work towards increasing the presence of scientific journals in international databases. This is to be achieved through comprehensive development plans that consider the quality of publishing and robust peer-review mechanisms, with the goal of advancing Iraqi academic journals and unifying scientific and research efforts.
The conference activities included opening speeches from the organizing bodies, in addition to scientific sessions that covered the indexing of academic content and a review of the Scientific Research Management platform as part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's comprehensive digital transformation. It also involved a review of the digital indicators and qualitative developments achieved by Iraqi journals over the past three years, with focusing on ways to improve research output.
Bayt Al-Hikma participation , alongside the participation of university presidents and experts from Elsevier, Clarivate, the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and the ASF Foundation, comes within the framework of the institution's effort to support and develop its peer-reviewed scientific journals. This aligns with the requirements of international indexing and robust publishing standards, as this has a direct impact on advancing the status of Iraqi research, disseminating credible knowledge, and unifying the efforts of editorial boards.
