How to Build Your Career Path in a Rapidly Changing World
The Department of Total Quality Management and Institutional Development at Bayt Al-Hikma (House of Wisdom) held an awareness lecture titled: "How to Build Your Career Path in a Rapidly Changing World," on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Al-Maraya Hall at Bayt Al-Hikma. The lecture was attended by staff members of the scientific departments and administrative divisions.
The lecture was moderated by Mrs. Sumaya Maan, Head of the Department of Total Quality Management and Institutional Development at Bayt Al-Hikma, and was presented by Engineer Jamal Talib Al-Sarraf, Consultant at Al-Ibsar Company for Training and Qualification.
The lecture focused on understanding the nature of the rapid transformations taking place in the job market as a result of digital development, the rise of Artificial Intelligence, and the shift toward the green economy. He clarified that these changes do not represent a threat as much as they constitute a real opportunity for those who possess flexibility and a readiness for continuous learning.
The lecturer addressed three main axes in building a career path, the first axis explained Self-Exploration and the Changing Environment, and the importance of dynamic self-assessment of skills and potential, with a focus on identifying transferable skills, linking interests with modern professional trends, and setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals that are also flexible. He also called for monitoring job market trends, understanding the most in-demand jobs and skills, in addition to benefiting from the experiences of experts.The second axis, dedicated to continuous development strategies, emphasized the necessity of building a diverse skill portfolio, including both technical skills and critical soft skills, such as emotional intelligence and critical thinking. He also stressed the importance of developing T-Shaped Skills and relying on alternative learning paths like digital platforms, applied projects, and career mentoring.The third axis clarified Flexibility and building professional networks, which represents a fundamental element for discovering hidden opportunities in the job market, calling for the building of relationships with mutual value. He also discussed the importance of managing one's professional identity and continuously updating the CV, in addition to adopting a flexible mindset that accepts failure and uses it as a tool for development, and not hesitating to change career paths when necessary.
In conclusion, Engineer Jamal Talib Al-Sarraf affirmed that designing a career path in a rapidly changing world is no longer linked to a fixed job; rather, it has become a continuous process that requires courage in self-assessment, commitment to learning, and the ability to turn change into an opportunity for growth.
