Fortifying the Mind and Society and Promoting Positive Values
Under the patronage of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance, the House of Wisdom – Department of Philosophical Studies organized a scientific seminar entitled “Fortifying the Mind and Society and Promoting Positive Values” on Monday, March 30, 2026. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the House of Wisdom, Dr. Qahtan Nima Hassan Al-Khafaji, and the Vice Chairman, Dr. Muhannad Abdul Hassan.
The seminar highlighted the importance of strengthening both individual and collective awareness against misinformation and social division, while promoting a culture of responsibility and social consciousness. It also emphasized supporting national efforts aimed at building a cohesive society grounded in positive values and sound critical thinking. Furthermore, it focused on the role of academic and media institutions in spreading awareness and reinforcing the principles of moderation and social cohesion.
The session was chaired by Dr. Wijdan Adheem Abdul Hassan from Al-Mustansiriya University, Department of Psychology, and moderated by Assistant Lecturer Ruaa Mudhhir from the House of Wisdom.
The seminar included three research papers addressing the topic from multiple perspectives. The first paper, presented by Dr. Saad Maan Al-Mousawi, Head of the Security Media Cell at the Joint Operations Command, was titled “From Awareness to Fortification: How Do We Build a Society Resistant to Misinformation and Division?” In it, he called for exploring ways to move from awareness to true fortification through a strategic vision that integrates intellectual, educational, and media dimensions to build a cohesive and resilient society.
Professor Dr. Musa Al-Mousawi, representative of the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance, presented a paper titled “The Social Impacts of the Activities of the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance.” He reviewed the key outcomes of the committee’s programs and initiatives, highlighting its role in spreading awareness and guidance within society, and promoting positive values and responsible behavior.
In conclusion, Dr. Talib Mohammed Karim from Al-Mustansiriya University, College of Arts, Department of Philosophy, presented a paper titled “Fortifying the Mind and Society and Promoting Positive Values: A Philosophical Reading in Building Societal Awareness.” He emphasized that strengthening society cannot be achieved through a single measure or institution, but rather through an integrated system of awareness, values, and institutions. A society that embraces dialogue and critical thinking is better equipped to face crises, while the absence of awareness amplifies problems and transforms them into broader social conflicts.
The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations stressing the importance of continuing such scientific events, enhancing cooperation between academic and governmental institutions, and reinforcing societal awareness to confront intellectual and media challenges, ultimately contributing to a more cohesive and stable society.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Qahtan Nima Hassan Al-Khafaji, affirmed that strengthening society begins with building a conscious mind capable of distinguishing between accurate and misleading information. He also emphasized the role of the House of Wisdom in promoting positive values and spreading a culture of moderation, dialogue, and respect for differing opinions.
The seminar was attended by a distinguished group of academics, researchers, and specialists in philosophy, media, and psychology, including university professors and postgraduate students. The event featured various discussions, interventions, and questions that enriched and deepened the seminar’s themes.
